Natinga Program

Discover how we train our dogs to detect even the smallest traces of contaminants, ensuring unprecedented quality control throughout the production chain.

Introducing the Natinga Program, an innovative approach that combines the instincts of the animal kingdom with the precision required by the wine industry.

Since 2010, aware of the impact of haloanisoles (TCA, TBA) and other chemical compounds on the aroma and flavor of wine, we aimed to go beyond conventional technology. The result was the Natinga Program, where specially trained dogs detect even the smallest traces of contaminants, protecting the integrity of wines from the source.

The Natinga team began with Ambrosia and Odysé, two Labrador Retrievers who, after two years of intensive training, became our first detection experts. They were joined by Moro, and later Mamba, Zamba, Bonny, Clyde, Cleo, Jack, and our newest addition, Athena.

Their specialized training allows them to accurately identify different concentrations of contaminants from the haloanisole family (TCA, TeCA, PCA, TBA), setting safety limits and reducing the possibility of false positives during operations. Each of them is a valuable member of our team, committed to maintaining the highest quality standards in our operations.

Recently, the ability of these dogs to identify compounds from the halophenol family (PCP, TCP, TeCP) has been discovered, expanding inspection coverage to an earlier stage in the haloanisole formation chain.

For TN Coopers, the goal of the Natinga project is to make an innovative contribution to the wine industry by developing a permanent monitoring program for raw materials, infrastructure, and processes present in wine production, offering our customers a unique service that can make a big difference between a quality wine and one that, simply put, must be discarded.
